Legal guarantee notice¶
The harmonised notice explains to consumers their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity. It is an official document of the European Commission: the app always shows the official files as they are, in the language of the consumer, and never changes their text, layout or colours.
Languages and reference data¶
The notice exists in the 24 official EU languages. The app chooses the language in this order:
the language of the page or of the customer;
the default language of the website;
the first official language of the company’s country;
English.
Languages close to an official language use that language, for example Catalan uses the Spanish notice. The languages and their notice files are listed in . They cannot be edited.
lists the EU Member States, the EEA countries and the outermost regions with their reference data. For each country, you can add a national note for your company, for example on a longer legal guarantee period. The national note is shown next to the notice, never inside it, and your note is kept when the reference data is updated.
Important
The national notes delivered with the app are drafts pending legal review. Check them with your legal counsel before you use them, or hide them for your company.
The settings in show the date of the reference data. Click Reference data versions to see what changed in each version.
Website¶
On the website, the notice appears in these places:
the page
/legal-guarantee, with the official notice, a text version of the notice, a link to the Your Europe portal of the EU, a PDF download and, if set, the national note;a link in the footer of every page;
a link in the terms area of the product page of goods;
a link in the cart, next to the order summary;
a link directly above the Pay now button at the payment step;
a link on the order confirmation page.
A click or a tap on a link opens the full notice in a window. Without JavaScript, the link leads to
the page /legal-guarantee.
To change the display, go to :
Checkout notice: choose Link opening the full notice (default) or Full notice inline to show the full notice on the payment step itself;
Footer link and Product page link: hide or show these links.
The notice is not shown on a website whose company is outside the EU.
Customer portal and payment links¶
When a consumer opens a quotation or an order with goods in the customer portal, a notice section follows the terms and conditions. The signature window and the payment window show a notice link before the button that signs or pays. A payment link sent for such an order shows the notice link directly above the Pay button.
Order documents¶
The notice page in colour is added at the end of the PDF of consumer quotations, sales orders and pro-forma invoices with goods, in the language of the customer. This applies to printed documents, to documents sent by e-mail and to downloads from the customer portal. Orders of business customers and orders with services only do not get a notice page.
The option EU Notice Page in Order PDFs in is enabled automatically for companies in the EU. Disable it only if you give the notice to your consumers in another way.
In the store¶
In a physical store, the notice must be displayed as a poster in a place where consumers can easily see it, for example on the entrance door, on a wall or an aisle, or at the counter.
Print the poster¶
Go to .
Select the Languages. By default, these are the print languages of your company, which follow the official languages of the company’s country.
Choose the Variant: Colour or Black and white.
Choose the Size, then click Print. You get one page per language.
When you place the poster:
print it at least in A4 size;
do not fold, cut or crop it, and keep it readable and in good condition;
choose the size by the viewing distance: A4 for 0.3 to 0.5 m, A3 for 0.5 to 1 m, A2 for 1 to 2 m and A1 for 2 to 3 m.
Important
A screen in the store does not replace the printed poster. Display the poster even if you also show the notice on a screen.
Log the poster¶
Keep a record of where and when the poster is displayed. After printing, click Log posting, or go to and create a posting. Enter the Location, for example “pickup point entrance”, the date in Posted on and, ideally, a Photo of the displayed poster.
All users of the app can create and update postings. Only managers can delete them; archive a posting when the poster has been taken down.
