AI in the website editor¶
While you edit a page, you can ask the AI to change it without leaving the editor. The requests are ordinary AI conversations limited to the website tools and to the page you are editing (see Edit pages with the AI).
Open the AI dialog¶
Click AI in the top bar of the website editor to work on the whole page.
Or select a block and click the Ask AI button (magic wand) in the block’s options toolbar to work on that block. This works for the blocks of the page and of the footer.
The buttons are shown to internal users of the AI. They work for website designers with the Customize UI & schema capability; otherwise the tooltip says which right is missing.
The dialog opens at the side of the page. Under Selected block: it shows the block you work on (with “(footer)” for a footer block); Whole page goes back to the whole page.
Note
The AI only works on the saved page. If the page has unsaved changes, the dialog asks you to save it first: click Save, or Cancel to keep editing.
Ask and review¶
Type your request, or click one of the quick buttons: Rewrite shorter, More persuasive, Change colours, Translate or SEO. Press Send (or Ctrl+Enter).
The dialog shows the steps live while the AI works, for example “Reading the page…” or “Proposing 3 changes…”, and then its answer.
Each proposed change appears as a card with a summary. Click Accept to apply it or Reject to drop it. With the Apply without asking write mode, the changes are applied at once.
After a change is applied, the editor reloads the page and stays in edit mode. The changed blocks are briefly outlined, so you can see what the AI did.
AI change applied. is then shown with an Undo AI change button that puts the page back as it was.
History of the day¶
AI changes of this page today lists the AI changes of the page and of the footer made today, newest first, with who made them, a Details link to the change and an Undo button. If an undo is refused because the content changed since (by hand or by a later AI change), the message explains why and links to the change, where Undo anyway is available (see AI changes and undo).
Translate mode¶
When you open the dialog in the editor’s translate mode (see Translations), it shows Translate mode and a Translate this page with AI button. The AI translates the texts of the page into the language shown; the translation is proposed, and you accept or reject it like any other change. You can also ask questions about the page or its translation. Changes to the structure of the page are refused in this mode: make them in the default language.
Limits¶
The dialog works on website pages and on the footer. Pages generated by an application (the shop, the blog…) have no content the AI can edit here.
The dialog continues your own AI conversation only, never someone else’s.
A chat model must be configured; otherwise the dialog says that an administrator must set one.
